Select College and University Market Experience

Syracuse, NY Community College – Conceptual design for the campus’ first student housing project. A project, incorporating 300 beds in apartment-style housing, could be integrated into the campus to enhance the students living and learning environment. The use of energy modeling techniques and green design strategies were applied to enhance student environments and contribute to a potential LEED certification.

Rochester, NY University– Feasibility study for steam to hot water conversion of University campus. Study evaluated the conversion of a high-pressure steam line over to a variable speed hot water piping distribution system. Design model was created using original design data and historical energy consumption data in order to effectively extrapolate system demands. Higher efficiency system was proposed to more effectively serve five campus dorms representing over 500,000 sq ft of the university campus energy needs.

Syracuse, NY Community College –Library noise analysis study. Sound attenuation levels due to existing HVAC system were creating an unsatisfactory library study environment. Engineering investigation revealed that unpleasant sound levels were due to high air velocities through the existing duct work air distribution system. Energy model was created to determine existing heating, cooling, and ventilation loads for facility. Upon completion it was determined that existing HVAC system was circulating more air than needed to meet building heating and cooling requirements. Design direction reduced air volume by over 20%, offering the cube of this in-fan horsepower much needed electricity savings.
