YMCA Lodge Orange County, New York

Ikan Partner Jacob Kandefer was a LEED Accredited Professional and Sustainability Engineering Consultant for the 5,700 sq ft lodge and green building learning center for the YMCA.

Green Building Highlights include:
• Building materials with recycled content including denim, paper money, glass, ash, wheat, newspaper, plastic, cement and wood by-products
• Permanent entryway grills to remove dirt from shoes at entries
• Energy efficient LED and fluorescent lighting
• Geothermal Lake Loop system with a high-efficiency heat pump
• In-floor radiant heating and cooling system
• Green and cool metal roofing systems
• High efficiency hand dryers
• High efficiency, low-flow plumbing fixtures
• Low VOC paints, adhesives and sealants
• Recycled carpet tiles
• Dual flush, low-flow toilets
• Occupancy sensors and CO2 monitors and sensors
• High efficiency ventilation system with energy recovery
• On-demand, tankless hot water heaters
• High value insulation systems including EPS
• Double-glazed, insulated windows and doors
• Energy efficient fireplace
• Native landscaping (no irrigation required)
• Passive Solar Design

Project has reached LEED Gold Certification.

The project was completed in collaboration with Larsen Engineers and Lacina Heitler Architects for the YMCA in Orange County New York.
