May 11, 2010

LEED Certifed Green Projects where chosen from more than 12,000 identified projects and 2,500 nominated projects, YMCA Camp Greenkill and Evergreen Lodge Camp has been selected as a Green Building of America-Award winning project! This remarkable project will be featured in the upcoming special Real Estate & Construction Review - Northeast Green Success Stories Edition.

Each Green Building of America Success Story project is highlighted in a case study that intertwines the words of the project's developer, consultants, architects, and contractors to explain how the teams worked together to design and build one of the region's most important, innovative or unique new or renovated sustainable facilities.

The YMCA Camp Greenkill Lodge, located in Orange County, New York, has achieved LEED Gold Certification. Some of its highlights include passive solar building design, energy recovery ventilation, in-floor radiant heating and cooling, geothermal heat pump system (this draws heating and cooling energy from a nearby lake), LED lighting systems, low flow shower heads, dual flush toilets, and on-demand tankless water heaters.

The project was completed in collaboration with Larsen Engineers and Lacina Heitler Architects for the YMCA in Orange County New York.
